Week 8: Roles of Universities For Sustainable Development.

Assalamualaikum. Hi everyone , welcome back to my blog. So, today I am going to share about Roles of Universities in Sustainable Development. When it comes to the roles of universities, it means, all of us (students, lecturers, staffs) are obligated to do our duties to make sure the goals of Sustainable Development achieved. Basically, all of the projects in this Sustainable Development needed to be continued until forever. What we can do is we need to check our ability to perform the task, not in the perspective of academic but from other aspects. Universities are not places to develop students with good jobs but more than that. Syed Muhammad Naquib Al Attas said that education is about man with adab. By having the manners, they can get the knowledge. Next, another former dean from a college discovered that after his 30 years of professorship, he found out there are so many excellent they achieved but the excellent did not bring anywhere. There is a company that has collapsed because of some workers even though they are very educated with 4 flat pointer. But at the end, they were not be able to take care the company and they did not put manners in their hearts. In Islam, we must put adab as the most important thing, because if we do not be good or else, we could create problems in the future. There is a man who came from religious family which is Christian, but when he moved to somewhere else, he became insane for million and million dollars , he was blacklisted in the United State of America. We should not be greedy in our life as it will make our life bad.

Universities & Sustainable Development. Research, Education, Operation & Governance, External Leadership These four components are the main character in this topic. And each of them has the methods that we could use in order to sustain. We need to bring our knowledge to the community and not just use it for examinations. In conclusion, as Muslims, we must practice all of the knowledge that we go in schools and universities with manners or adab so than it will result good thing in the future.
